Conventional wisdom suggests once you have broken a pledge it gets progressively easier to do each subsequent time. The theory has added weight today with the news that Gordon Brown is attempting to truncate the Parliamentary debate in order to restrict the amount of examination of the Lisbon Treaty and head off any possible rebellion...
