Move along, nothing to see here

When a police officer is shot in Britain, you can be certain the details will be a leading news headline on all the network news programmes. So why is it that when an officer is shot in Northern Ireland - an integral part of the United Kingdom - the incident barely gets a mention? Is such an attack any less serious?
